If or when you have to park at a shopping center or near a residential area does anyone ever complain about your APU noise? I have always had an electric APU which is quiet and when I become an owner operator I plan to get a diesel Thermoking Tripac and they do have some noise to them. I want to make sure no one cries about it.

That is going to depend on your relationship with your neighbors. I have a Dynasys System installed and there is no complaint. I drove a reefer and the times I parked it there was a complaint. Your Tri Pac makes more noise then the Dynasys system but not a whole lot more. As long as you are only running it to tend the batteries, your neighbors should be fine with it. Just make sure you tell them what is going on so they do not think you have left your engine running.

Not so much neighbors but some receivers are near apartments or the only parking is at a Walmart store. I don't want liberals crying about it. I was going to get an electric APU but it couldn't handle this summer heat.

I would not be concerned, the apu's are not that loud and your comfort is important to your ability to do the job safely. A grubby driver is a danger. A well rested one will get his load safely to market.

Tripac is pretty quiet. I have had trucks sitting next to me complain about the exhaust from it though. There are some noisy apu's out there.

Ive had an APU all 9 years of my driving career and no one has ever complained about it. I did find a plastic bag inside the air filter housing once; didnt affect the apu at all.. Would like to think it was just a random occurrence but considering where the air inlet is it seems like it might of been deliberate. Too bad for them if so, it ran on.

Nothing worse than being parked in a nice quiet area with the windows cracked getting a nice breeze and someone with a rattling, stinky APU parks right next to me and fires it up. So much for my relaxing quiet night, time for me to idle

I've only had 2 trucks with an apu. One with a comfort pro diesel unit....and this one with a battery pack apu. I much prefer the diesel one. Bit louder, but worked better. We're getting ready to replace all the batteries in this thing soon as I get back. The comfort pro couldn't really be heard even athough the back of the trailer. Never heard a complaint. The people who would complain about your APU noise would probably complain just seeing you there.

Yeah I like when I open the side window on a nice evening and get somebody's APU farting stinky exhaust fumes into my window. Time for me to move!
