Well ladies and germs, tomorrow is Sept. 1st, time to break out the chains, clean off the dust and cobwebs, Colorado will start doing random chain check stations and handing out brochures about it.

I'm ready. Was just assigned a new truck a few days ago. They carry full chains year-round here. But I've yet to find the location and opportunity to go through them all and decide which ones I'm going to want to exchange out. They're not new, but they don't look "used" but I have a felling there are some 3-railers in that bunch of chains and I don't deal well with those and demand to swap them for singles when I get back to the barn.

I'll have some time and opportunity over the next several days to go through them.

JReding, otherhalftw and Lepton1 Thank this.

Well summer is gone. I feel cold already. Drivers remember don't wear white after Labor Day. I wanna see Fall colors at the fuel aisles. Accessorize with earth tones.

I seriously considered chaining up this morning. Not for snow. For mud. Closest I have come to calling the oil rig to come pull me in.

Never chained up, but it was touch and go. For about a quarter mile after turning into the narrow mud road I was in a jacknife steering hard to the left, trying to get my left drives up onto the level. Churning along in whatever gear could keep me moving, from granny Lo to 4th. A mile including up slight hills. Heart in my throat.

    Fun times.
