I failed the CDL road test at Roadmaster school

Thanks to everyone for the advise, I really appreciate it. I will give an update next week after the retest.

 

Hi jmarqu, since you're here, I didn't mean to be insensitive. It's just this is such a regular feature, one can get tired. What the others say, you are giving it too much throttle, and over reving, remember, there's only a few hundred, not thousand, like a car, revs for the next gear, Try and make a mental note, what r's got you in that gear. Yes, keep us posted. There's some companies that will hire you even if you only have the cdl permit. Labatt Foodservice in San Antonio is one of them.

 

There's a lot of ppl that can't drive a manual so what.

Not at all.Some ppl will stop at nothing to fulfill their goal driving truck.Can't condemn them for that.Once they feel more comfortable later on then see if they can retest in a manual.

 

In my not so humble opinion, I believe automatics, GPS, cell phones, etc have made the job too easy thus getting the quality of drivers that spurn even more regulation. It fosters the attitude that anyone can drive a truck... Sadly far too many cannot even drive a car safely let alone an 80,000 lb truck. But that's just the opinion of a grumpy old man that's been doing this job too long and been witness to the decline of the industry.

 

Now you're being more respectful.Anyway I do agree ,the GPS has made people very lazy and some don't even know how to read a map they don't look at signs they just let GPS do it all for them.I've never been a fan of the GPS except when I'm close to the customer but for trip planning absolutely not.The training in today's industry is also deplorable.I blame all involved for that. The industry has changed a lot since when you started driving truck and getting worse at an alarming rate but its not the ops fault so I'm just going to answer his question if I can and not lecture him.

 

I don't see anywhere I was disrespectful or lecturing, but to each their own. Stay safe out there.
