So I have an 07 Pete with a cummins isx 450hp. Cpl is 8520. Cummins said I can't turn it up at all. Does anyone know if this is accurate or they just won't? If it's a parts issue what parts would limit the motor? Guessing maybe at least the turbo. Any help is greatly appreciated

Going of memory I do believe 450hp is max stock power rating for the 8520cpl.
Hard parts that I've seen differ between CPL numbers are injectors, turbo, cams, pistons, as well as static timing.

    Oldironfan and sparky88 Thank this.

Perfect. I was hoping it wasn't internal parts. It seems wierd because a driver I know with a 435hp had his truck turned up to 475 or 485 but the 450 I was told can't be turned up

There u go, an 850 has injector and metering timing solenoids which base your load, will need to rebasing your entire ecm

Had mine turned up to 475, getting a parameter code 412. Control motor
Any ideas. This is a newly built engine. Waiting for break in and the wanting to turn up to 550-575 hp.

Where are you seeing this code? What engine/year model?

Increasing horsepower is relatively simple as long as the person knows what they are doing. I have seen more than one owner destroy their engines prematurely because of doing that. Factory built high horsepower engines come with dual oil coolers and other upgrades to make it work and cool properly. If you change power in an engine with lower original horsepower you may have problems in the future.
