I never knew how tired I was until the 30 minute break became mandatory. At first I was thinking “2.5 to 3 hrs extra a week spent at work should make me more tired.” I couldn’t have been more wrong, now it’s like 365AEE32-061C-4784-94F5-DA2AC840E6AF.png

I won’t rant about the productivity killer known as the 30 minute break again despite how stupid it is, but I’m pretty much in your camp on this. The 800 mile run in one shot is a pretty blatant violation.

But, then we’ll also have the guy that may have to shut down 10 miles from home because he got stuck in traffic behind an accident.

Oh wait, trip planning would’ve solved that before it happened.

I think the big positive out of Elogs is that in the past the driver was "expected" to be accountable for everybody else's mistakes, Dispatcher screwed up? No problem, Ill tell the driver he has to be there by this time, Shipper screws up, No problem, he'll get loaded when we are good and ready and then I will order him off the property, Receiver screws up and schedules two trucks at once, No problem, that driver can just sit there till I get around to him and then I will order him off the property. In the past the driver was EXPECTED to make up the difference, it may take a while, and there may be some heated arguments over it, but now that driver has a Legitimate reason "Digitally Recorded" to back him up on why he can't move, and the blame will go where it belongs!

I watched the whole thing, but I could tell by the first 30 seconds what kind of an O/O this guy is, the law about ELD has been set in stone for how long now?

But he is whining because he bought a device 4 days before the deadline and expected everything to be peaches and cream, lol

As an O/O of just a bit longer than him I know not to expect everything to always work every-time first time, Especially in this industry, hell guys that have been in this business 6 months can tell you that!

Yeah, I did get past the first 30 seconds, barely, and then quit watching. By his own words he has had myriads of accidents in 23 years, many times more than I have had in over 35 years, two, also like him not my fault. He claimed getting run into other trucks in lots. Getting run into other vehicles during merges from on ramps. The whole thing seems melodramatic and scripted based on how it seems overblown in details out of some desperate attempt to make the case.

Don't know if it's melodramatic or not?
But I can tell you the whole merging thing is just totally out of hand.
I run the north to south I 95 corridor and it's not the odd car every couple of days that doesn't know how to merge but almost every car coming down the acelaration ramp that dosent have clue how to enter 65 mph traffic safely.
A couple of years ago I was coming down I 95 in nc when a guy coming down the ramp in an suv sees me and then equals my speed side by side then runs down the shoulder out of lane and then comes on behind me.
I could not go left because the lane was full and I had my left signal on.
He proceeds to pass me and then starts yelling out the window and gave me the finger.
10 minutes later my wife calls and wants to know what happened on the highway because she got an irate phone call from him?
She took his number and said she would have the safety dept call him.
So as a single truck OO I put on my safety dept hat and called him.
He starts yelling at me saying one of your company trucks failed to yield to him coming on to the highway and he almost ran off the road and he was calling the cops.
I said to him that traffic coming down the interstate is not required to yield to traffic coming on from an on ramp.
He argued with me and I said how come there's not a yield sign on the interstate at every on ramp then?
He said because every driver knows that law and he hung up on me.
So this is the education and mentality of what looks like the largest majority of driveing public on the road today.....
Houston we have a problem smh
