I know freight is better than it's been,in a few years. But even so #### happens and there are no guarantees when a weekend goes bust. Right place, right time. And besides that freight and rates have cooled off considerably in recent weeks. Your comments above about new brokers asking if they should get DAT or ITS? Lol...
I agree 110%. It is laughable somebody would ask that. Common sense. It reminds me of drivers who will balk at spending $150 a month on a good load board subscription or two when many of them are getting 100% of their freight from brokers. And they're booking $150,000 or much, much more more in a year. But balk at peanuts $150 a month for a better tool. And when they see a screenshot of a $150 month load board ask in awe, "what load board is that?"... ....Uhhh the one you are too cheap to invest in to improve your bread and butter. Funny thing is I would imagine on the broker side $150 a month would be on the low side.
I'll say I really improved my lot in life when I upgraded from useless $30 load board subsciptions. You can get by with them in a hot market. You'll starve in a down market. Everything you see posted on one in a down market is "already covered". You get what you pay for.
Not all brokers are bad and some I work with are especially good to work with . One is Williams transportation in Omaha ...small company . Pay very good rates , very friendly , don't expect miracles, leave me alone . A company I look forward to dealing with.
Just about every carrier who calls me for a load I've had covered for hours, saw it on TruckersEdge, and it hung there aftet I pulled it down in DAT.
Can confirm. Hasn't been happening as much this last year or so but it used to happen like 5-10 times a day. EDIT: Actually now that I'm really thinking about it, it slowed way down when I went to my current brokerage. It's entirely possible that it has something to do with load posting tools and the quality thereof.
