When you "short" a stock, you don't own any shares. You borrow the shares from a stockbroker and sell the shares on the market. You owe the stockbroker however many shares that you borrowed. Those shares will be due at a set time in the future. You also owe a charge for them providing the service of letting you borrow. If the stock price increases, you've lost money. But if it decreases, you can make money. Get it ? Long means you're in a position where you want the price to increase. Short means that you're in a position where you want the price to decrease.
Thanks! Lol! I drive a truck; don’t do stock buying; I was lucky enough to inherit a stock portfolio from my Dad; but don’t mess with the way he had it diversified.. it’s just fine without me messing with it until I retire! Lol
I believe that 06driver that works for Walmart Is waiting for your answer on where this big 8 million dollar contract that celadon just got with Walmart is located at. It's obvious he hasn't heard about it.
