I’m a rehire with CRST, my 10 month contract is over in 4 months. I went out on the road with a trainer for 28 days. At the end I was asked by the trainer who is leasing his truck through CRST, if I would like to be his co driver for a year. He would buyout my contract with CRST and hire me I would make 1500 wk minimum. And on bad weeks .35 a mile. He wants to stay out 2 months whenever we go out. How does this sound? 2 months seems a bit much to me. Family at home.

Just finish your contract then move on to greener pastures. Unless this trainer would offer you nice benefits.

Is he even allowed to sub-contract under a lease purchase?

Wow that's why this is a bad thing, cheap owners who can barely afford a truck getting into one through the company and then hiring a driver who they can't afford to begin with (most won't have a contract with the driver and pay them 1099) and then run it into the ground.

I think that says it all..... If someone chooses to be abused, knowing they will be abused there is simply no help for them.

You have a family at home; you brought that up, so it's a concern to you.
Finish the 4 months, then move on to another company with decent home time and pay.
Where is your home location; city/state or just state & nearest city. Let us know and we'll help you find something better.
