Maybe. O/O's pay a crap load more in expense than I do. Fuel, tires, maintenance, taxes, insurance, and so on. I pay my income taxes and health insurance.

So where an O/O may hit $4,000-$5,000 per week in gross (on average), by the time they are done chewing up that gross in expenses they are probably only seeing around $1,500-$1,750 per week into the bank account. Add in the additional stress and wondering if you are gonna get paid for the load (if you have your own authority) in 30/60/90 days, plus either paying a truck and trailer note every week or month or banking money aside for the inevitable inframe rebuild or trailer rebuild/replace, and I sit very, very well in comparison to the average O/O. At least in my experience.

I understand and to each their own but I don't know any independents NETTING under 3500/week. This time of year most are doing 1k per day after fuel at a minimum.

There seems to be a lot of expense that comes out of that net as well. And I'm only going by O/O's I know in my area. Those are the only numbers I see in real life on a regular basis. O/O's in other areas may have different costs.

And my numbers are based on running a 4.5 day week on average. I go home every weekend. No more hiding in the truck in some scummy truckstop for me every weekend!

Sounds like you've been talking to some poor businessmen.

Forced dispatch is generally defined as:

"Hey driver, your 34 hour reset is up at 2am Sunday morning, you have a delivery appointment Tuesday at 3am 1300 miles away in your 65mph truck."

I work for a company that asks me what day I want to go out next. Usually it's a day and a half to two days later, but I still get to choose if I want an extra day off to do errands or other things.

    Forced dispatch is slavery.

I've been seeing those numbers too. Whether it's posts on here, or talking to others leasing to my company. The money isn't there unless you're lucky or a top 10% salesman.
