If my old company approves my rehire on Monday, I can start orientation on Weds. My only thing is I haven't driven since I quit in may. Prior to that I was OTR with them for about 2 years.

But still, I know we do a road test and backing test, which I don't remember being too hard. Anyone ever take a few months off and come back? About how long does it take to get back into the rhythm and knowing what you were doing. Is it like riding bike

2 months off is nothing, depending on your level of previous experience. Once you get in the truck, it’ll come back to you in no time (or at least should).

I was off 15 months before returning.
This time I have been off for 2yrs 9 mo so far. As soon as I get the sleep apnea b.s. taken care of I am coming back
I don't see any issues for me.

I took 16 years off and was able to pass the new hire road test. I burned up youtube a few days before watching #### near eveything i could find on doing pretrips and driving in general.

I took 10 years off, just came back a couple months ago.

You'll be fine. It IS like riding a bike.

Yea I would assume it's like riding a back. It'll all come back to you. I mean we took a driver back who hadn't driven in 6 months and didn't even give him a road test, they gave him a truck and a preplan.

    RedRover and homeskillet Thank this.

Yes, took some time off to work in the office as a dispatcher. Honestly, within a few hours everything felt familiar again.

If the company is Swift I really wouldn’t worry about it. Don’t jump a curb and you’re hired. It’s really that simple.
