Omnitracs IVG

So installed this thing but have noticed that it will just shut down on it's own and fire back up. Also it seems to have made the dash display a little do strange things but subtle enough that I question that it was there before. I was under the impression that these are passive units and shouldn't affect anything. Am I losing my mind here or do these IVG units have issues?.

 

It happen to me twice since i've had it installed into my trk november. Restarts by itself... get that welcome/warning sign, and goes back as if if nothing happened. I'd say its probably your IVG unit, a defect if it's happening more then often.

 

Mine shuts down after the truck has been off for a few hours then turns back on whenever you turn the key to the on position.

 

Some are set by the admin to power down after x hours, and restart every x hours to check for messages. But I doubt that's what's going on here.

Sounds like loose power connection or thermal overload protection switching. Does it reboot immediately after shutting down or is there some elapsed time?

 

I accidentally learned something about my Omnitracs IVG that was refreshing. It has voice recognition that can perform many tasks. One thing I hated about our setup is not being able to se all the different times remaining, such as on the 11, 14, and 70 without being stopped. All it shows you is the amount of time you can drive up to the minimum of the 4 different limits.

I was listening to an audiobook yesterday, and some string of words activated the IVG and she asked what I wanted to know. I was like "shut up. Nobody's talking to you". and she said "goodbye"

Anyway, the activation to get her attention is "Hello Omnitracs", then the command to get her to speak all remaining hours is "Available Hours".
