Engine damage with high rpm

Holy crap! Why the heck you didn’t push the clutch and hit the brakes hard before you went that high??

 

Worst part of this is we will never see pictures of the damage

 

Please keep us updated ..especialy if the engine survived lol.

This is why trucking companies can not afford to pay company drivers $0.60 per mile. Since I've moved over to the operations side of the industry, I've seen first hand multiple examples of nice, new, expensive equipment being outright abused like the OP. Even "experienced" drivers (we require 2 yrs OTR) do incredibly stupid stuff and have absolutely zero regard for the financial hits employers take when stuff like this happens. Some of the things drivers do is mind boggling.

 

Watched a guy pulled out of the fuel islands at the ta in moriarty nm this afternoon with trailer tandems about to roll off the axle ...woobling ...clanking .
He almost made it to Albuquerque lol.

Ive turned over older engines the 3200 range decades ago and a few other unlimited tractors were still supplying fuel at 2800 Well beyond the 2300 then redline.

Engineers have spent decades making sure that if at all possible you don't idle anything, clog the thing up and refuse to take the doggie out for a run, say trapped in the 1400 range.

And you wonder why engines get arthritis and aging to death before their time Having never been to work.

Yes the damage can be severe.
Did you think it’s a good idea too let the RPMs go that high? What were you thinking.
I assume it went over 3600. There is no reason to go over 2000. When I had my own truck I would rarely go over 1800.
Sorry to say this, but you should not be near a truck.

a friend of mine went down a steep hill on a bush road loaded with a 155 komatsu crawler, couldn't get it out of gear as it ran away on him with full brake application. by the time he got his foot on the clutch the flywheel and clutch exploded. you can imagine the damage, but the engine was ok. months later after it had been repaired he started having electrical issues in the dash, when they pulled the dash apart there was a piece of the flywheel still in the dash that had damaged the wiring on it's journey upward.

 

Well I guess OP didnt like what heard here, we haven't since him since.
