How to find loads for a 26ft flatbed. What companies do I contact

I’m just starting and will own one truck for now. I’m trying to figure out where I should start.

 

Loadboards,look for ltl freight.
Your local lumber yards,local brick and stones companies,construction companies,landscaping,you get the idea

If you live near Seaports or intermodal facilities, contact freight forwarders and steamship lines about moving 20' containers. You could also try hauling cars, small construction equipment and farm equipment.

 

Why not get a 40 foot trailer and do it right.

 

I would prefer to start off small.

 

What is the going rate?

 

Make sure you have plenty of money in the bank . Try finding a dispatch service cost ya around 10 percent but worth it .They should handle factoring too .I won't haul a load under 2.10 a loaded mile. Back hauls will be tough to find with a trailer that small. Some brokers and shippers require 40 ft trailer no matter load size . You will probably have better luck with cars 26 ft is short for general freight. Rates are lower for auto . Good luck.

 

That makes no sense, you want to limit yourself when you are starting because of why?

Invest in a real trailer, 40 foot will bring more opportunities.

 

I am assuming that you have your own authority and the correct license and insurance for what you are wanting to do. If you just went out and bought a truck and slapped non commercial plates on it, you wont last long. Or you are leased to somebody that covers the details.
