What truck batteries do you use and how long do they last?

My truck 2014 Volvo 670 Exide PX-31 925C.
3 installed at this time. Thinking I will go to 4 batteries as I just added fridge and other items.
Looking for recommendations for the next set.

 

Next time I change batteries, I’m planning to get from sams club/Costco, rather then in repair shop who charge me twice more. And if you have room for 4 you should defenetly go for it.

 

if you have the cash and are not a cheap skate. go with trojon truck battery.

 

I use Odyssey AGM, not cheap, but havent had to worry about her turning over since I switched to them a couple of years ago

 

Funny battery story. Back in the 80's, I hauled a load of lead bars from Herculenium, Mo. creepy place, to Globe Union in Milwaukee. They made car batteries for years. When the guy loaded me, he put 4 small bundles up front, then a BIG space, and 3 bundles on the back. I said, "that's it"? He said, "well you got 44K there, you might want to nail those back 3 to the floor". Lead pretty heavy, duh,,so I get to Milwaukee, back in, guy says, be just a minute, so I'm looking around, here's all these empty battery cases, every brand you could think of, even Diehard's. Guy comes back, I said, what's the deal with all these battery cases. He said, pal, get your cheapest price on a battery, inside, they're all the same.

 

Nearly all of the automotive flooded batteries you see on the market are manufactured by either Exide, Johnson Controls or EnerSys.

 

Call me a cheapskate but i only spent 240$ on 4 refurbished batteries 2 years ago. Havent had any problems out of em either.

 

Hi cheapskate( you said) once, I got 3 batteries from a truck junkyard, they were almost brand new, $20 bucks a piece.

 

Guy I went to school with worked at a battery plant in St. Joe Mo and said the same thing. I find it 100 percent hard to believe but would guess most batteries are the same.

 

To my knowledge, if your truck has an APU, you need “dual purpose” batteries. It’s more than just a starting battery. These dual batteries were designed to be recharged many times by an APU.
