I spoke with terminal manager at Sysco and he told me his drivers average $120,000 a year.

Yes. 12 hour days. Home every night. Off two days a week. Not a trucking company though.

Do you live near a union grocery warehouse with their own fleet? It’ll take a few years to get up thru the ranks and then get to top rate. Then probably have to work 12+ hour days if you want 100k, but it’s easy work. Low pay to start.

Also, as Weeble Kneeble mentioned, Univar, Praxair, etc (both union, private fleet). Univar will probably depend on the location for OT, but good hourly rate +OT.

Might also check UPS (also union). Not familiar with actual pay, but always hear good stuff. But you’ll prolly starve at first, depending on location. I think you start out on call?

IMO, Univar/Praxair is probably the best bet to get there the quickest. But I think Praxair is a machine that never stops, so you’d prolly be working Holidays (just what I see in their ads, if anyone knows the real deal, feel free to chime in).

I’ve gone all private fleet after my first trucking job, they’ve all been good.

You will work the holidays and most likely nights but home after your shift, and even the newbies can do 100K plus at Praxair.
Check the website for openings..make sure you look for bulk positions unless you're inclined to handle cylinders.

I’m making 120k/yr dry van. No touch. But truck is home... basically leaving me free of expenses aside from mobile phone. Saving up to buy my kids houses. 1 down 2 to go. Also covering their university.. when/ if I retire in 20-30 years hopefully one of them will give me a spare bedroom to die in? LOL
