recently I used a friends old International tandem dump truck to haul gravel. He told me that he has been stuck the day before and rocked the hell out of it so much that the spokes had shifted around inside the wheel, where I could see scrapes. Coming up a gradual hill with a load on, the rear end started making a crunching noise and the truck stopped moving. The owner claims that I was hit dogging his truck and blew out the rear end by stressing it. I think that his rocking sure as hell didn't help. Opinions?

    moral to the story..??

buy your own....(or just never use anyone else's)...or PAY THEM to DO THE JOB...for you.....and YOU STAND WAY BACK......and WATCH THEM, destroy thier own equipment.

he "might" sue you now for all repairs, whatever he said to you, unless you video taped it or voice recorded it, will not stand up in court, as it's "hearsay"....

you broke his truck, is all the judge will say.....

It may have been fractured before you even sat in the seat, how you gonna prove it?

Bad news is it broke while YOU were using it.

A sure way to burn up a rear end immediately is to spin the wheels. Even on a brand new Truck.

Tell the guy to blow it out his ###. If he was rocking the truck to unstick it that bad, he's the idiot that ####ed it up.

I'd ask to see the old diff. Chances are there's probably no hard surfacing left on the ring gear.

As I said, we are friends. No one is going to court. I wouldn't have friends like that.

Actually, we are. We realize that old trucks break when they are in use sometimes. Sometimes, it nobody's fault.
