they have trucks for training where they took everything out of the sleepers and put seats back there. if i remember correctly they hold six students and one instructor.
-
gotcha, they must be sleeping in hotels then -
6 it is
one student drives
instructor sits in passenger seat
there are 3 seats across the back where the bed would be and a seat behind each front seat
all but the middle seat in back are air seats
as crowded as it may seem its really not that bad
there is also a a second door installed behind the drivers door for easy in and out -
That sounds cool and cozy. LOL. I already have my CDL but I have no experience. I was with an OTR company in Jan. of 2000 and my son had a hair loss disorder. So, I came off the road to be with him and my wife. I just never went back. I have been driving tractor trailers hauling truss' for the last 9 years. Since my job is now about gone because of the economy I have decided to go OTR. I sent in an application and DeeAnn from Millis contacted me by email Friday telling me I was accepted to MTI. I am really excited and I will call them early tommorrow and get everything setup. I have read all the posts that I could find and think I have made a good choice. Thanks to all for the information.

I talked to DeeAnn and they are not filling classes till next week and it will be the July class. I have to call her back at the end of this week to find out what day next week they will be taking calls to fill their July class. She said even though I recieved an acceptance letter that I have to call and try to get a slot. SOOOOOO I will be really trying hard to get a slot. I sure hope I get one. Anyway I will keep everyone posted on the progress. JstNew when you get there let me know how things go for you.

Well I just read over my last post for week three and noticed the spelling error where I said we got to "meat Jazz" What I meant was, "we got to meet Jazz"
Now that thats outta the way, Orientation!
Going with the perdiem practical route at least for the first year anyway. In the end it just made more sense. Got the 401k all set up and probably wont be taking the health INS. as i'm already on my wifes. Learned how to set up and take down the bulk head(not rocket science) and also learned how to slide the trailer tandems. A bit more paperwork and that was pretty much it. Harold got it done in two days instead of three, gave us our five shirts, hat and sent us on our way.
Four out of the nine in our class are set up with trainers and unfortunately i'm not one of the four so here I sit. Harold did say Mike Millis was working on it and if I didn't hear from a trainer within a few days to give mike a call. I'll be calling tomorrow.
Also,
Not sure if this is true or not so you may want to ask, but I heard Millis was no longer paying for students hotel rooms. That the students would have to be responsible for their own lodging or pay it off via payroll deduction. Again, not sure how much truth to that but I did hear it.
I'll keep ya posted.... -
