which is why i mostly stay inside of the truck. i don't have to listen to the babbling, see the pissing matches, and what not. i only leave the truck to take care of personal hygiene matters, to get food and something to drink, whenever i arrive at the pick-up & delivery location(s), and do the drop & hook stuff. i've already gotten crap from other scumbags for refusing to sit down and have a beer or two with them. sorry, but i'm not going to drink while i'm away from home, and risk wrecking my job history. if i see somebody having a beer in their truck, i will rat them out.
Just because some one has a cold one in their truck is no reason to rat them out. How do you know they are not on their 34 reset? Now if they drink and drive then by all means rat that one out. But don't bother another working man having a cold one in his home away from home.
i don't give a ####. it's all about public safety. who's to say the driver won't go for a little drive later on? if they're drinking in their truck, i'm gonna be a snitch. how many drunk truck drivers have made it on the news in the recent years? when they finally wreck their truck, just think of how many times they may have driven while intoxicated, buzzed, or sloshed. maybe when you have somebody within your circle of friends die from one of those a-holes, you'll be singing a different tune. if you can't stay away from the sauce while you're technically on the job, there's an 800 number for alcholics, and i suggest you and the others call it. last i checked, having any alcholic beverages in a commercial vehicle, opened or unopened, is against the law. i have zero remorse for when somebody gets caught drinking loses their job over it.
My vote goes to Brickman...he has "connections" While I personally agree that the law says no alcohol whatsoever in a commercial rig...I wouldn't rat the driver out for that...but IF that driver did take a drive to get more brew..and something happened during that drive involving that driver..I would have no problem being witness to his consumption prior to the event.
If we switched to pig latin..can we continue? WAHHAHAHAHA! On the phone with mama, she says its kinda warm at the house..97 at noon...how you doing down there...melting yet?
I don't see myself ratting on another driver, that isn't to say I agree with what they are doing. I do wonder though how I would feel about myself if I said nothing knowing what the driver was doing and killed somebody due to my inaction. This is a far different area than just discourtesy, but rather falls into the arena of public safety. With that in mind a driver just sitting and drinking a beer or 2(not a case or 2) on a 34 hour restart I wouldn't object to, however the moment I saw the vehicle start to roll I think my conscious would have the better of me and I would be calling somebody. That's just my $.02 without saying anything about another driver or their decision in the same scenario.
