I had load last night I could not make delivery because not enough hours. I don't blame the ELD, I blame dispatch for booking the load to tight. I even told dispatch 10 hours before delivery there was not enough time. Dispatch still says I can make it and keep driving even if I'm will only have 15 minutes left on log ELD by time getting to delivery. Traffic backup stopped me so I could not make it. So they said park at truck stop and show up in the morning. Delivery said come back at 4pm today. So load is 24 hour late. Parking at truck stop was $20 for 8 hours today. Here the best part, I now will have 14 clock limit from 6am from from when I started this morning because dispatch say they will take me in the morning. so I have to go back at the local Chicago/Melrose Park truck stop once empty. That will be $30 more to park 10 hours. So they will have $50 in parking $100 layover for me. They lost a day of running the truck. If I was still on paper logs they would have said keep running last night. The ELD protected me

I’m sure my answer won’t be popular, but we need some sort of electronic logging. Most people are incapable of controlling their own behaviors, and will run out of hours.
Otherwise, the 11/14 wouldn’t matter whether it be paper or electronic.
However, thus 5 mph trash is nonsense. should've imposed a distance limiter rather than this current sillinesspeterd, truckdriver31, bryan21384 and 1 other person Thank this. -

That's what is good about ELD they force the laws to be fallowed. I think lots of company and dispatchers don't want change and keep pushing limits. They need to learn to allow real driving time and traffic and speed limits. Then the trucking companies will be forced to charge more money or go out of business. Don't promise more then they can deliver and expect the driver to make up for that.
