Heavy, after this incident where you dont give a dang about the other guy... the next time you whine about your medical conditions here and expect pity i am going to personally rip you a new one and ridicule you until you quit.
Route 1 isn’t national network, so my understanding is no throughbound trucks wider than 96” or with a trailer longer than 48’. This happened on the north end? That’s actually the better end, truth be told. I’m surprised there’s actually not head-on collisions on the south end about every other day.
Walking floor, crossed this guy often. Kept the truck nice. Sucks to see. Just crossed him Monday morning on 301 in MD.
RIP Luis Garcia. Didn’t know him at a personal level but I use to see him when I was loading C&D out of the bronx. He use to load demo in hunts point section of the Bronx, going to Seneca falls NY and the truck he drove broke down a few days ago. He wanted to make some holiday money and did another company owner a favor and went to pick up a truck in Delaware after the driver was put out of service for suspended license. He was to take that truck to a landfill in Virginia and come back with a load of mulch to NJ before continuing back to Hunts point in the Bronx. The way I hear it, he was following the driver who he rode down to get the truck with because he had never been down that way so he was unfamiliar with the route. The other driver got a bit to far ahead of him and he sped up trying to catch up. It was foggy and he took the curve to fast and, so ended his story. Terrible way to go. Can’t imagine what his family is going through. Story from FB.
Thank you for the story share. That helps me understand the situation much better. And have some empathy with it. I apologize for harping on tight. Its seemed all I did was cross that thing with a 96 and either 45 or 48 and it was still a attention all the way across. When I had wider trailers and 53 well.. thats quite plenty couple of mirrors cracked on me. Eastbound from west to east is not hard just two hills and one hollow to get out of before the straight drop down to the powerhouse end. Its coming from the east to west where it really gets tough for some. Fog is not welcome at all. Ive learned to hate fog or add amber fog lights of sufficient intensity for that part of the USA. We don't fog here often just between storm systems either before or after and it's pretty here in Arkansas when it does. Not as thick as near the Atlantic. I hope this will be the last death for quite some time. If ever.
From where we're located, I've come down Rt 1 into MD from PA often and I've always been confused by the signage. My map and restriction guide says even in an anti truck state like MD Rt. 1 is legal, but local signage says to detour down to 95. Since we use both straight trucks and T/Ts if I'm in a tractor I'll demure because I'm not saving much time. (Although one time I think I had a pickup in Bel Aire,,, is that the name?) Thanks for the clarification, I think I'll keep avoiding that stretch with tractors. I'm sure when the coops are open they're just itching to give guys like me a hard time. (What toll are they avoiding? It's free southbound?)
