year is 2010
And I checked ford website about towing capacity it shows 9700lbs with that pickup truck and also looked some f250 has also similar around 10000lbs
Also some of f350 has 12-13k lbs
So doing hotshot with this truck would too dreamy? I was thinking I might do with smaller load around 7-8000 lbs weight.
I watched some videos for find loads, some guys shows truckstop com and some other load board has so many load around under 10000lbs. Can I tow those load with fletbed or something else trailer on my truck if I take membership from that load board sites?

My target in hotshot isn’t making money hugely, I was thinking I can make like part time and save money if I can. Some guys said in youtube they can save $2500 every single week after all expenses gone but my it would maybe $1000 saving after all expenses gone. Do you think it could possible?

 

anything IS possible, but "part time" and needed repairs, where will the repair money come from?

you "make bank" only to blow it on inadequate equipment.

go big, or go home. but in the end, all these hot shot trucks, from the F-250 and up, and no mater the manufacturer, will NOT take the miles, use, and abuse that a class 8 can and will, and go further before any major repairs.

you gotta realize, many of those you tube jokers are making money on thier videos alone...i highly doubt that any one of them, tell you the "WHOLE truth".....

 

What's the payload rating and hitch rating of that truck?

How much will the trailer weigh? A 40' gooseneck is around 9500 lbs. How much does the fifth wheel weigh? Between payload, you, the fifth wheel, and a decent trailer you're past the weight limit without loading anything.


You don't have a 10K towing capacity. And not to be a dick but, you don't have a work truck.

Besides, you could literally get a 8' trailer and do trash and junk removal off Craigslist and make more money.

 

Also, you don't have the rear axle to do it. Under 10", not floated, and with 3.73 gear ratio (I could be wrong on the gearing.) That's not a work truck. That's a commuter sedan with a lift and a bed.

 

Even a decently built 16 foot bumper pull is pushing the 2,200-2,400lb range.

 

Leaving him the capacity to tow two 4 wheelers or one golf cart w/ batteries safely. Maybe a VW Bug.

This is why I hate marketers. And this is the reason there's a glut of repoed, busted, previous year 1 tons on every ####ing used car lot in the CONUS.

You need to understand the difference between Gross weight, payload capacity, hitch weight capacity. What a rear axle is like on a work truck, and how empty trailer weight impacts the manufacturers "Tow Rating."

 

Pretty much. Half tons are just glorified grocery getters. Meant to tow heavy once or twice a year (ie travel trailer to the lake and back).

 

As I wrote first of post, I am just searching about this and I don’t have any experience. What is different rear axle on f150 to f350? Is that impressive a lot for towing?
and for example if I buy or rent one of this kind of trailer which is gross weight is 9990lbs and 20’ length.

in this market, does everyone works around 40’ lengths? 20’ won’t work for any load up to 7000-8000 lbs?
I respect your experiences and your job, I just searching how people doing and how impact pickups capacity to loads sizes.
