That already happened quite a while back, alot of Truckstops did away with their paid/secured parking lots. Then T/A thought drivers would appreciate reserved parking. That was the going joke for a long time, "only way to get a parking place there is to have a reservation" so at least someone was listening. Then all the stops jumped in as another revenue stream.
Hampshire, IL has a big, spacious parking area, but not that much close to the store, there's a fenced off wetland or wooded area next to the service shop. Much of the easiest parking is on the other side of that. The one at Atkinson, IL is smaller and usually has parking, still can be a long walk to the store with bad knees, ankles, or foot problems. Don't know if they plan any more stops in MN. Albert Lea is it, so far.
If everything eventually ends up going to paid parking .... i wonder will the companies set up some kind of parking account system with Truckstops to pay for it ? $ 20.00 a day time 7 days is $ 140.00 .... potentially $ 7280.00 per year @52 weeks . Drivers will be expected to PAY this ? Trucking will keep pushing drivers out of the trucks or deeper into the poorhouse . If drivers don't react to that then they must love abuse One or the other
