It seems to help a little if I disregard your reality and substitute my own, then I can at least get a couple hours of sleep :D

    Sorry man, I couldn't resist.

In all seriousness I have spent many a sleepless or really close to sleepless night because because the brain won't shut off. A surprising thing considering it's mostly just empty space in there.

If I can tell by my mood it's going to be one of those nights then I will try a shot of ZzzQuil about an hour before I know I need to get to sleep, it helps a little. But most of the time by the time I figure out just how it's going to be it's to late to try and take anything because I won't be able to get up when I need to if I do.

For those nights unlimited data and Netflix or a decent Stephen King book are a godsend.

Sometimes watching the history channel helps. You maybe able to stop thanking about your reality while watching what was someone else's.

What Suspect said. I know some people on here frown on it, and some companies as well, but if I was at a TS and I knew I was too wound up from the day I'd see if there was a pub or store nearby that I could grab a beer at. Other than that, you might want to look into some kind of meditation (and yes, that was mediTation and not mediCation... though the 2nd might help as well...)
