I have been reading through the threads on here to find out how drivers feel about different companies and have
seen it posted a few times that some companies use all auto's in their fleet ( Maverick, Averitt ). Are there a lot of
companies that run autos and if so could someone let me know which ones? I would rather be driving manual especially
since I have no driving experience. I don't want it to be a problem for me down the road if I'm applying to different
companies that use only manual trans trucks. Thanks

Let us know your location so we know the hiring area you live in.

Halvor Lines hires from everywhere and use stick shift.

Check with NFI, they're based in New Jersey. Maybe they have stick shifts.

You're a new driver from Jersey. So check with Pottles, NFI, Millis I believe hires out of Jersey, Swift, Watkins Shepard has a terminal in Jersey as well. Millis and Watkins Shepard both train drivers and both are really great companies to get with, both have 10 speed manuals and sometimes Millis has 13 speed transmissions as well. Good luck to you.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure Watkins Shepherd is either all auto trans or transitioning to autos.

Thanks everyone for the information. Just getting started and trying to research as many companies as possible.

I'm going to add my two cents here. I'm a new driver also. There are many things to learn out there as a new driver. We have automatics in our trucks . For me it has been a lot less stressful driving not having to worry about what gear I'm in while driving. Just something to think about.
