Proud sissy here. I've had a set for over a year and have never used them. I plan my loads around snow, and have the socks just in case.
I've gone through two sets of Autosocks since 2015 and I think I got a solid 40 miles of use out of them before they started falling apart. They're good for short use. Chains, you can wear all day if you have to.
Tried them and they are no where close to the grip you get with chains. They will wear down, and you'll spin out. Stick with chains.
This was couple weeks ago. Went up and down lookout mountain . montana idaho border on i90. Socks worked just fine . pulled the mountain in 5th gear and came down in 4th . no problems at all . i had them on and rolling while everybody else with chains on barely was still getting their chains set up.
