    Do all companies run federal background checks..? and how far back do they go ?

    They do run "background checks". I wouldn't call them Federal background checks, however. Some may be credit checks/drivers license/DAC etc. For a HAZ endorsement, I believe they run a FBI check. In this day and age, kinda hard to hide anything. Our personal lives are documented and VERY public.

    Always be honest on your app. A lot of trucking companies will be cool as long as you are honest with them. Also you don't want to get hired then fired because you "accidentally" left something out.

    The first company I worked for went back at least 20 years on the criminal check. I had a misdemeanor arrest I forgot about (no conviction) and my recruiter called me about it. Didn't stop me from getting hired.

    it should have been of no concern about "background checks".

    Except that people see on here that companies are really picky. Then they worry about that disorderly conduct charge from 20 years ago. Companies don't care about stuff like that.

    at present it has been 11 years since my last drink

    This questions falls into the same category as the people who ask what companies use a hair sample for drug testing.

    the good ones do. a good background and dac can be a good tool in asking for a cent or two more .
