I took the drug test the week before last and now i'm waiting for criminal background check to come back. How long does this process usually take? I know that it takes awhile for TWIC and Hazmat backgrounds but its been 8 years since i've had to do a company background.

It takes as long as it takes. I don't think there is a guideline. Depends on who submitted it, who received it, and anyone else involved in the process. Sorry I can't give you a better answer.

the hazmat background check generally takes 2 weeks on average. it all depends if you are in an area where you can have your prints digitally scanned. if you had to submit your prints on paper, then your gonna be waiting a while.

it is also the same background check that most have to do when applying for a concealed carry/gun permit. if you can go to walmart and pass the check to buy a shotgun, then chances are you are good to go and all it will take is time.

This time of the year you can expect some delays as its VACATION time for a lot of the Gov Employees who do the paperwork. If 1 starts it on Friday and is gone for 2 weeks it usually sits on their desk until they return.

Haven't you got that backwards....if they are on vacation, things get done..it's when they are "working" that things don't get done!:biggrin_2552:

OOPS :biggrin_25517: Sorry you are correct , summer time delay has to be with someone else in the process.

I already have a twic and am going to start school on the 16th. Will having the twic already speed up the hazmat process?

Not really. Hubby had his TWIC and it still took 6 weeks for his Hazmat background check to clear.
