Hello guys i am looking at going into beverage distribution as my first cdl a job. I have experience stocking and unloading from retail and also fast food stocking meat and drink cases. Since i have plenty of experience in stocking and driving don't i stand a pretty good chance at getting the job. For the most part that looks like what beverage and food distribution is alot of stocking and some driving.

Right now they need people badly it's the busy time of year.... I will say that beverage doesn't pay the best but it's experience I did it for 3 years and it was fine if you have a cdl and a pulse you should get the job lol

I wont actually be able to get hired until at least early October when i graduate. I'm pretty sure they're still busy that time of year with the playoffs, thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner

Here's my issue though local jobs around here take time, interviews, supervisors doing multiple jobs and so on. After school i don't exactly have time to wait for all of that. Plus heck if i go to the interview now and the position is filled by October im screwed out of a local job. Every other place around here requires me to have my cdl license before i even apply

Beer distribution was the worst trucking job I ever had, both in pay and the stress and bs. Work your ### off for half the $ you make running regional or OTR and your hometime sucks because your work days are long, really long some days and you're exhausted when you get home. I made more $ spotting trailers at a plant than I did slaving in beer delivery. Walked off the job about 2 months in and didn't give a F about the consequences, absolutely hated it. Part of that was the lousy company I got on with but I'd see the same drivers from other beverage companies regularly and their days were every bit as long if not more.

    LoneCowboy Thanks this.

Can't decide if i want to start with otr and just get the highway experience becase then i have options if the food/beverage jobs dont work out. Everyone has told me its best to start otr just for the experience if nothing else. That way i have that option later
