Alright. Home time is supposed to be tomorrow, but his truck broke down. Hasn't been towed to the shop yet, but onroad thinks it is exhaust filter. He is going to end up in Gary, In. We live in northern michigan. Worse case scenario and his truck is in the shop for days...will swift find a way to let him come home? I realize they dont care, but it is our 5 yr old's birthday, and after 3 weeks he misses his daddy. :(

Unless he can get a loaner truck in Gary and find a load up to you he is probably stuck there.
    Sorry.
I've had similar things happen as well, but it is all part of trucking. A home time date is never certain, only hoped for.

Worst case, you simply have a late birthday celebration for the little one.

And it's really not a case of Swift not caring. They try to get us home on time, but it all depends on available loads and circumstances.
These are things all of you need to understand and accept if you are going to be a successful trucker family.

Your little one is old enough to understand, if you explain it correctly.
And he might actually be happy to get two birthday celebrations - one with Mommy and a second with everyone.

Another thing to consider is that if he gets a short term truck he may have to completely clean out his truck in the process.
    That is no picnic.
Then he might have to wait some time before he gets another truck, because he could lose his current truck in the process. That could mean a big hit on his paycheck.
It might be best to just accept things as they happen.

And who knows. Maybe the delay is God's way of avoiding something even worse from happening.

One of the many joys of trucking.OP learn to ecspect the unecspected.Your hisband can either wait till trk gets fixed or take a bus home but keep in mind if he does that,he will need to take a bus back to Swift most likely and since this is no fault of his own,I think Swift will furnish the bus ticket.

Err. He already is having 2 celebrations. He switched from dcx to sears dedicated and was told he could only get home on weekends, so he pushed his hometime back a day. Today was the birthday. Party is sunday. I need sanity. 5 year old stuck in house going stir crazy. Teething, angry 19 month old, and nursing 5 month old.

With that load, why did you ever agree to let hubby become a trucker?
A bigger question is, why hubby would.

I fear you won't gain sanity until your husband is home with you on a more consistent basis.
Trucking is not the base for that. Period.

    BrenYoda883 and A21CAV Thank this.

Homelessness vs him being away from home. We have bills to pay. Life happens and factory jobs paying just over minimum was digging us deeper into debt. Dont know if you heard, michigan economy kinda sucks. He left for training 2 months before the baby was born. I self induced my labor with castor oil when he was home with his trainer so he could be here.

I've not met many women like you.
I must say, you are a fighter.

That alone can keep you sane.
