well it would be hard to put manual inside

automated was not very widespread at this time so it is automatic

also almost all fire trucks are automatic because of far better acceleration....

for example 400hp scania 2axle fire fighter with manual transmission have 14seconds from 0-50kmh

    automatic have 9

9600 and 9800 are beloved in Russia for simle design, but as I can see they have safety problems. EU cabovers are more tought, but seems to me the problem is that 9800 is too old rig.

But now Russians keep building 9800. It is Euro specified (Euro-3 ore Euro-5).

Russian 9800 got Euro lamp, Eurp park brake, front wheel lugs guard.
Cab was restyled and as I know this cab is much safer then old one.

I saw flat floor versions too, but with ISM and ISL engines only. Bigger engines under this cab only.... ISX it too tall and used with box only.

V designed engines would be sweet but V6 and V8 for class 8 trucks are made by Scania and Mercedes only.

I tried to compare African version and Russian. They are really different. For Russian market Euro 3 trucks are offered., but for CIS international haulers Euro 5 (with DEF) is avilable and no DEF version for Africa.

Russian international got more choise with engines, but generally they offer ISL, ISM and ISX. People think ISM is the optimal one (420 HP), but as I can see ISM unit injectors are the most expencive. ISX fuel system is twice cheaper to maintane.

ISX 11.9 is not beloved here, so operators try to avoid XPI, and they really do not like CRD, so ISM is the most popular.
