Can a company wreck your DAC if you dont show up to a orientation? Reason I ask is a small local company owner may hire me this weekend, but I have orientation already scheduled at a mega bottom feeder Monday.
Short answer = Hell no. If you can get on with the small outfit don't even think twice or second guess yourself.
A "bottom feeder" company can't wreck your DAC even IF you attend orientation and later quit. Hand get you a job, run for your company and stop worrying about something you can't really do much about to start with and stop listening to all the truck stop attorneys and other rabble rousers in the truck stops and terminals.
The key word here is "may hire me" I would try and get a firm offer before you potentially screw yourself out of not having a job at all with the mega. What happens if the guy doesn't hire you? You are back square one of looking, or worse, having to call that mega and see if you can get back in. Until you have a written offer in hand, you've got nothing but air...
You could reschedule an orientation start date for say 2 weeks from whenever it is. Don't feel bad about dumping out on them.
What makes you think just because it's a small outfit it's better? I know several guys that got screwed out of money from small operations you gave no information on either company.
