x3. Have either of you called on the ad to see what the guy has to say? I'm wondering what, if any, their age restrictions are for tractors and what all the intra-CA stuff entails. If either of you make a call would you mind posting the results here please? Haven't been able to get a call in to the guy during the hours he's available.

Just as a follow-up to the post; I called today. Here's the info I was given (I only asked about the intra-CA fleet so those interested in running the 7 western may want to call and ask yourselves...) :

If you're running intra-CA on your own numbers and plates there are no age restrictions on the tractor, you've just got to have your CA #, motor carrier permit, and be enrolled in the BIT program. I forgot to ask about insurance requirements. He said that you could expect a gross of about $3500/week on this route (at 80% of the loads gross) while running 4 trips to and from LA to the Bay Area per week. Works out to about 2400 or so miles weekly at about $1.50/mile total (he says at times the freight will go above $1.50), fuel surcharge included in that. They're only passing 80% of the fuel surcharge on to the carrier it sounds like. It sounds like they've got some sort of dedicated dry van freight going from the bay south but that they will be finding loads as you go to get you back up.

All things told I think there are some better deals to be had out there, I think I could do better just taking stuff off the load boards... If anyone calls on the 7 western post up what he has to say about all that, I'm wondering if it's anything better but I have my doubts...

    LostOne9 and sal Thank this.
