I recently booked a load through Carroll Fulmer and late in the afternoon they pulled the load from me because they already had a truck at the pick-up location. Mind you, I had a SIGNED rate confirmation with this company and was told I had until 8pm to pick-up the load. This was going to be my first load with this company and they burned me real bad. I definitely do not recommend anyone to haul a load for this company because if they can pull a load from me they can pull a load from you.

 

Did you ask for TONU money ?

 

I told them I was going to send them an invoice for the amount of the rate confirmation. What is TONU money?

Should have been figured into your contract before you accepted the load to cover your ###.

I've heard terrible things about this company. My girlfriend's parents live just down the road from a terminal and when they heard I was getting into the industry the first thing they said was, "don't you dare go to work for Carrol Fulmer"

 

We've run only two loads for them back in 2012, but I don't recall anything negative. Just ask the broker for a revised rate con with a TONU on it. If it was an honest mistake, they won't hesitate to pay you. The amount will be negotiable, unless you agreed to an amount in your carrier agreement or rate con (probably not).

However, I'm not seeing the whole story. You say they pulled the load due to having another truck already there. So, how long was it from the time you booked to the time they cancelled? And did you already move toward or arrive at the shipper? This is important, because a TONU is intended to cover the lost opportunity to you for taking your truck off the market for some period of time, and possibly cost to move it. If they canceled the truck order fairly quick, you haven't been harmed. On the other hand, if they waited the entire day and canceled you late enough that you had little chance to re-book the truck, you should be paid. Likewise if you moved to the shipper and found out your load went out on another truck with no notice from the broker.

 

Red has some valid points. You should at least look into the TONU.
