Hello, I am fairly new in the cb world and am slowly gaining knowledge about cb’s, I have a Uniden Bearcat 980SSB and when I’m on AM it says antenna fail and RF Out passes but when I’m on USB and LSB antenna passes and RF Out fails. Any ideas on what’s going on? I just got hired at a different company and didn’t have any issues with the cb until joining this company. The antenna is mounted on the hood closer to the windshield towards the driver side. I tried 2 other Cobra 29’s and they seem to working fine.
The first thing I recommend is to buy a good external SWR meter and check your antenna system. Otherwise it's just a guessing game. There are a lot of videos on using an external SWR meter.
