CDL questions

Is a 2000 Ford f450 with a 16ft dump body with a 17,500 gvw towing a 28ft tag along trailer with a skid steer weighing about 19,000 and the same gvw be considered a cdl vehicle? Its about 35-40ft long and hydraulic brakes on the truck and trailer... I'm in Florida btw

 

Yes, that's a class A combination. 17,500 + 19000 = 36500, which is way more than 26,001 lbs. That's the minimum weight for a class A combination.

 

So it's not a class b? An f550 is smaller than a f650... ####...

 

If the trailer's GVWR exceeds 10,000 it is not Class B

 

Its straight up Class A

Combination vehicle.

Trailer GVWR is excess above 10,000 pounds. (NOT gross vehicle COMBINATION weight, just the total trailer weight, your 19000 pound bobcat does not help)

Class B is already "Included" in those who hold a CDLA.

HOWEVER, your vehicle brakes being liquid driven you WILL have a NO AIRBRAKES restriction on your CDL A if YOU TESTED with NON air brake vehicle. It will NOT be legal for you to touch a vehicle with airbrakes period.
