Old day cabs with painfully hard clutches. This is after a few days of practicing alley docking.

My 57 year old knees are going to appreciate an automatic.

Inflammation doing its great work I see. Elevate & ice up if possible. Have you just got back into using your knee for shifting. The reason I ask sometimes not using our ligaments & muscles can bring this about. All the best on your recovery.

    Coffey and Puppage Thank this.

Play with seat position to get better leverage.
Worked for me in one truck I drove.

I have a torn acl in my left knee. Drove a manual 359 pete 11 yard mixer for years.

Your sympathy request has been sent to Kitty at The Help desk.

all That happened from just using the clutch for backing? Or do you use the clutch for shifting all day too?

    Coffey and 201 Thank this.

Yeah, what are using the clutch so much for? Years ago, we had clutch knee, and throttle foot, from mashing the throttle all day,,,

It doesn’t really hurt today. This 15 year old international day cab has a very hard clutch. Even the instructor comes out rubbing his leg (he’s in his 50s too).

We’re using it to practice alley docking for about 4 hours at a time, rotating through 4-6 students. You have to ride the clutch during these maneuvers, at least while we’re learning.

Road trucks are a lot easier. They have hydraulic clutches.

Depends. Not all trucks have gone with hydraulic pedal clutches.

I just thought it look freakishly funny. I have new respect for guys who drive manuals, though.
