i think a couple years ago they had 5 or 6 comfort zones, now today looks like just 3, and 2 over lap the east coast, (jersey) 1 is east of the mississippi river, the other denver,co. to the east coast, so if i was base out of columbus,ohio it would be best to take the comfort zone that includes denver, less trips to the east hopefully, meaning jersey
Finally found the map of the comfort zones, and looks like 910 for me. That knocks out the NE, but includes Jersey. Surprised that nothing on the West was really included.
Jersey isnt too bad....as long as you stay on the turnpike. ONLY thing i dont like about NJ and NY....is if you miss your exit, you're going 30-40 mi out of your way to get BACK.....and the travel plaza's? dont plan on getting a burger king meal without spending $15. if i were you, blsqueak, i'd take the 910, and if you DO get a NJ load, ask to t-call it in WV.
I hope to go all three zones and 48, but especially the 907 and 910 zones. Well.......I should say I do until I experience the boroughs of NYC in a 72 foot rig! Don't know how I would deal with that.
burger king here is getting a little cheaper at this plaza. Last night Bacon Cheeseburger with luke warm fries, only $9. The other morning at McD's in CT, large coffee refill, $2.75, and my cup is medium. Should have walked back to the truck and got my large Pilot Coffee mug. NJ Load, heck, I will ask to T-call in Columbus. Why pull the hills of Eastern Ohio and WV.
48 is what they will put you on if you don't request a zone. Some drivers tell me they are told there is no such thing any more. I refused to go to Elizabeth NJ to pick up a load. I told them I feared for my safety. I got a smart aleck comment "you're in Jersey now how unsafe is it?" I was in the sticks with cows and barns around me. I don't go inside the I-287 loop. I haven't been offered any CT, MA loads yet. I will go to Los Angelas. You can find a place to turn around there. Maryland has 3/4T limits on just about every side street. I drove several miles on a street with no place to go legally in downtown Baltimore. Western guys don't want to come East. Jonestown will plan you on lots of short runs if you let them.
