We've always used Panasonic Toughbook laptops running Windows. I like the PC based diagnostics just seems to be a better all in one solution to have one device you can load all the software on, have internet browser, email and so on.
We just run plain Jane 15” screen Dells or HPs with the number key pads and intel processors. In a clean shop they last a few years under 16 to 20 hours a day use. By that time the USBs are well worn and need replaced they need upgrade anyhow. We have had Dell tough books and they didn’t really last that much longer for the additional cost.
I use the same laptop model CF-54. It has some good diagnostic software on it but some of it I can't use. No username or password.
This is one of the places I was looking at. I am pretty much retired now but my brother still needs something. We have a "laptop" but the guy that we got it from passed away and we can't get updates now.
Ordered a setup from Diesel Laptop today that should work with our current laptop and Nexiq adapter. Looks like it will do what we need for a decent price. Priced Jpro but they are crazy $$$.
