    You should ALWAYS keep blank log book on the truck incase the computer does crash so you can immediately go the old fashion way again:biggrin_25521:

    There are a dozen programs to help with logging, ifta, trip sheets, etc. Truckers helper, daily log, driveline and others. Anyone have suggestions. what do you use? Needs to be simple. If you say spreadsheet or excell I'm already lost.:biggrin_25525: Thanks

    I like Driver Daily Log, DDL for short. It's a good program and can do all you have asked for.

    DriversDailyLog does miles, fuel reporting, IFTA and just about every other record keeping a truck driver (O/O or Company driver) would need. It is relatively inexpensive considering it's functionality.

    There is a software package Drivers Daily Logs, basically, you do your logs on your laptop, then print them off to send in to your company. Spoke to my log Dept, they are ok with it. Basically it is just like doing paper logs, you print them off every couple days store your copy in a binder for the law to see if they ask, actually, not sure if that is required. If johnny law asks for your log you can show him/her your log on your laptop, or print them out. Its not like electronic logs, you still have control over when, where, how much time, what line, etc. Have not messed with it much. Know a couple drivers that are using it, hoping to meet up with one, one day and have them give me a tutuorial. Anybody else using it. Good, Bad ? My writing skills suck, so this would be a far neater way, but not sure if any easier, or will be more time consuming. I run looseleaf logs now.

    Ugghhhhh, I think I blew up my laptop in the cold. I accidentally left it in the truck over night. Temp got to for around 5 F. I tried to turn it on, and when I did I believe it fried the hard drive. Its sitting at the computer hospital right now waiting for surgery...

    That kind of cold is hard on batteries, it drops the voltage to the point where anything powering a motor up draws too much current, like a hard drive. The solid state drives would probably work better in this instance but extreme cold is a killer. It's best to warm it up before trying to run it if it got that cold.


    I have another problem, a camera I liked to use got the leds ruined by cold, has anyone had experience in getting a good camera repaired for this?
