I am about to test out of my school and am at the same point with three different companies. Got the prehires and all three want me to go for a local physical/drug test, get cdl, then report to orientation. At this point do I just pick one company and only get one physical or get all three, then pick? I don't want to burn any bridges. They wont give me an orientation date til I get the CDL and physical. I need to start making some money though, quick.

Be best to pick the best of 3 and then inform others of your decision. Taking their phys/drug screen is like saying you'll do this step then be in orientation.

Pick your first choice and go for it. If you get 3 physicals for 3 different companies & they're paying for it, the 2 you don't pick may bill you for the cost. I don't know that for a fact; can you afford it if that's the way it works? Also, if something found on the physical disqualifies you, you don't want the other 2 to know about it. You can get the problem corrected, and then have other companies to apply with.

Stay away from prehire companies. A company that is that easy to get hired on with is surely not worth it! Do your best to stay away from the mega-carriers and you will have much better success.

Exactly. I don't want to hire on with any company where I can't "interview" them first. And why would any company want to hire any employee without the same interview? If a company does pre-hires they aren't worth working for. The pre-hire has less value than the TP hanging in my john. Remember this: While you are working for this company they are still "pre-hiring" 50, 100 or more people every week to replace you. Why would any company worth working for need to have a continuous stream of dozens (if not hundreds) of new hires coming in every week?
