Do you gentlemen have any advice, referrals etc as far as mechanics or shops?

Is there a company other than the dealers that offer good service at reasonable prices?

I have tried the dealers like Velocity Truck Centers for our Cummings engines but they are ridiculous when it comes to pricing.
They charged me almost $300 to diagnose and then replace an air filter and then when obviously the issue was not the air filter they charged me almost $300 more to tell me it was the turbo, they wanted almost $10k to replace that.

I am looking for a list of decent diesel mechanics in the Las Vegas and Los Angeles areas.

If you can share good companies/mechanics that work the South West, you would be helping yourselves and the entire industry in not getting gouged.

I've never heard of a Cummings engine.

The best way to avoid being ripped off is by getting yourself some knowledge. Learn about your truck and engine. When i was younger and didn't have much knowledge anytime my truck was in a shop I was right there watching over the mechanics shoulder watching and learning

Yeah I'm sure I didn't make a few to happy watching them and asking questions or even questioning their thinking. But I wouldn't have changed my ways. Thats how I learned and why I rarely need a shop anymore

I think rush truck centers are decent for a big chain. I have no complaints.

Best way to find a good Mechanic, is word of mouth. Just asking everyone, like you’re doing. I have some great resources right near home. Just had to ask Locals. A good place to ask is the Parts Guys. Find out who’s good. Other O/Os also. Get the reviews from them, good and bad. Avoid the bad. Someone does you right, tell others.

He might not know the language. He's not exactly in america where he's asking about. I've seen a few good shops but not many.

Some search sites have reviews, I use NTTS Breakdown. Most of the time , the. shop will take it in riteaway. Back before the internet and computers, I would use the yellow Pages. Even the Smokies know who to call .
