I have a blackberry and have my load alerts come via email, the load alert has weight, width, lenght, trl needed, $$$,Agent phone #,orgin, dest. So when I'm away from my laptop just a quick scan tells me if I want to call and inquire.

No doubt that there is an easier way now.

The email is nice but, its takes about two min. after the load is posted to get to my email account. If that load has any money on it two min is 1 min 59 seconds too long. Poof its gone! If any load gets posted that pays well ya gotta be fast.

Im sure they pay good but what do you bring home per week is my question? There is brokers out there that pay better than landstar. I book my loads myself and know what they pay. Not to brag but im at 175k this year already without taking landstar loads. And best part is I drive 3 days a week and home all the time.

sounds like asking someone if they want to work 40 hrs and make $1000 a week...or work 35 hrs, and make $1000 a week. Its a no-brainer.

Who do you use? And what do you typically haul?

i got a reffer. I m pretty much set with 3 different brokers every week. Before that I use to run east coast every week and always made good money just drove 5 day per week. I made 190k last year with dry van. There is money out there if you know what you doing. I dont run west at all, higher elevation, winds, and so on, loads going to west dont pay anything. coming back they do but I like to be home every weekend. I do own my truck and trailer.

My calculator says: 34 weeks (this year so far) at 3 day per week = 102 days on the road. $175,000 divided by 102 days is $1,715.67 per day. Pulling a reefer? No western states so you avg 600 miles per day? $2.85 Per mile? Every mile? Pulling a reefer? You want to be believed? Prove it.

Send me your addres I will mail you my copy of my pay papers. I recently started working 3 days per week like 2 moths ago. I dont drive on west, east coast is my favorite. Now I do dallas, columbus and back home every week. Its hard to beleive but there is stuff like that outhere. I have a load every thursday out of dallas to columbus about 2 to 5 pallets very light. pays $2700 delivers next day. I m set with that load until dec 31st.
