Hello. I have my dot physical this week and I read that they do a kidney screen. I have an autoimmune disease that effects the kidneys but it’s pretty benign and does not effect my ability to operate a motor vehicle. My specialist also has it well under control. Would they fail me for the physical for this?
Do you take any medications? If not, do NOT volunteer any information. However, be truthful on all questions if the kidney screen detects anything. Play it by ear. Good luck on the physical. God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
I do take medication for it. I take medication to control the blood pressure. But when medicated, I am below 120/80
So basically, if the screen comes up good and my blood pressure is good, what they don’t know won’t hurt? It’s not like my blood pressure meds will show up on the drug test
BP Medicine will cause the DOT doctor to evaluate you the same as if you have a mild increase in pressure. You are at risk of only getting a three month cert. Blood Pressure / Hypertension and Professional Drivers
That's rough, having to get a physical every 3 months. Maybe the doc just flunks you the second time.I told the doc I was on BP meds and he gave me a 12 month card vs the 24 month card I had always had. Had to sweat out a new physical every 12
With all due respect. If you are on blood pressure meds and you state this on the form or tell the examiner and your blood pressure is high your not getting any card. This is considered out of control blood pressure. At least this was how it was stated on the physical instructions to the examiner at one time.
