I am hauling asphalt in a dump truck do I need to have my load sheet with weight what I am hauling etc...if I were to get pulled over by MN DOT
Erm no. Blacktop Plant billed my Owner. Dump stuff in until full truck and go build a driveway. The lawman knows I am heavy anyway. Story of my life. One time I endured a full DOT inspection with 9 ton of sand plus about 10 ton of stuff on the beaver trailer. They looked under there and figured 5 axles for weight at the public scale. Came out pretty close to 18 wheeler weights. That particular inspection was something else. I can still hear the teasing today.
I know you have 10 years each in every segment of the industry, first I've heard about dump trucks though... Is it possible to not make stuff up for one day? Or at least stop giving advice that has no basis in reality?
I haul belly dump as an owner op. Usually a cop will want to see the ticket the quarry gives you that is time stamped and has your listed weight. If I’m legal, I hand it over during an inspection. Asphalt is always legal where I live. if I’m doing haul outs or whatever else, or I’m not legal, I have a hand written ticket book I pre fill out 1 ticket for the day. This way it’s up to the officer wether he wants to roll out the scales or not. It gets trickier if you are overweight and have a yearly overweight permit as the cop will want to quiz you on the route since you can’t go on interstates over 80k with it (in Texas anyway).
