    What is not so recent?

Prolly going to depend on the company.
Some might even want you to take a refresher course. It's going to vary.

Smaller companies might consider you.But megas, that depends how long ago that 5 yrs was.If more then like 6 months, they may want u to take a refreshers course. You'll have to look at their requirements.

I had 7 years experience and took a 10 year break from trucking. Got my CDL back last year. Schneider hired me with no recent experience so the fact that megas won't take you without a refresher is nonsense. I worked for Schneider for less than 3 months and found a GREAT job. Almost triple what Schneider was paying me. Lots, and I repeat lots of companies will hire drivers with no recent experience. They're just tougher to find. You won't find a lot of them online. Pound the pavement, have all credentials with you when applying and you will find something.

But you do have 6 months recent otr so doubt you'll have to take a refresher course or go with a trainer. But you not driving for 8 yrs then coming back I don't think that will be considered as part of your exp to get on with the better companies.Alot of them will say like a yr recent otr exp.

They may take you but still give you rookie pay if that's what you are getting at.
