Looking at 48’ spread axle flatbed. Dump valve is on front axle. Wondering what effects this will have other than turn radius when front axle is dumped. Full weight of load will be on total length of trailer. Is that bad on frame because it won’t have that support at 38’ ? Will be hauling lumber and plywood at 46000-48000 lbs. What’s y’alls thoughts?
Personally, I'd move it to the rear axle. Having the ability to drop 10' off the length of my trailer has helped me get in/oil of some crazy places over the years. Would never own a spread without it.
Don't let it stop your purchase. It's on, and wired up. That's 90% of the battle. Swapping airlines to change the dumped axle shouldn't take more than an hour or two, and twenty bucks in fittings.
Pretty much what they said. I've had them on both axles at one time or another. The rear is the better axle to dump....imo. no worries about damage. Not unless your doing stupid stuff that is.
