Hi guys, I want to ask if any of you have any DWI experience. This is what happened to me. About year ago I was cought by highway patrol on my personal (non-commercial) vehicle in New York State. I got DWI, my driver license was suspended for a 3 month, and my CDL was suspended for a year, I just got it back few weeks ago. I have 3 years of long distance experience. My questions are: 1) If I can get a job somewhere within USA (any state). 2) Is there any way to remove it from my record? I even consider moving to other state from NY. Thank you in advance.
I really think you've got some time to wait. If you do get lucky and find a company that will hire you with a DWI they want clean driving time before they will even look at you. Some want 10 years, some want 5, and some even will go down to 3 years. However, there are many that say none ever. So your seraching is going to be hard but it can be done. Don't give up because you might land with an O/O where he or she teaches you what you need know to have your own truck. Good luck.
Regardless of what anyone tells you, that DWI is gonna haunt you forever. As a CDL holder, what the HELL were you thinking? And before you get all offended, yeah... I was that stupid once myself..... 41 years ago. Guess what, any time I cross the border that still shows up on a criminal search. RCMP and FBI share files and it's on both. Now you do too and it will never be removed. Y'know why I'm so blunt? Because you're asking for some way to duck it. Waaah, poor me!!! Get down on your knees and be #### thankful you got pulled over before your dumb act got some innocent hurt or killed. I hit another car and threw a toddler in it from the back seat to the front. Thank God he wasn't hurt. So yeah, you're gonna have it rough... just like I did... but we both asked for it. Now man up, get your head outa your butt and try to make up for it. Oh, and while you're at it, get it through your head that booze ain't worth it. I quit completely those 41 years ago and so should you. Next time neither of us might not be so #### lucky.
It's not the end of the world I have been arrested for DWI seven times.Only one conviction however. In trucking you can always find a exception to the rule. You might have to lower your standards, look in different ways find a owner operator are small company that has flexible control over the insurance company. I'm not saying it is going to be easy I'm saying there is a lot worse records than yours going down the road all the time.
Seven arrests? Even w/out being convicted on the other six, it still speaks that you have a problem. Man, I hope you are "on the wagon." To the OP, you asked about "changing states." Won't work, the record will follow you where ever you change to. As BIG RIGGER said, keep looking.
I was a long haired biker before the yuppies started doing it.Back in the 70's and 80's if they couldn't find any dope on you they would hit you with the next best thing.Five of my arrests on my Harley they never even seen me on the vehicle.I got a DWI in Laredo one night as I was having breakfast.I think the seven arrests with only one conviction which was the last one would tip you off to insinuating circumstances.
IF what your saying about yourself is true, IMO you need to be OFF THE FREAKIN ROAD PERIOD! Your NOT responsible enough to drive a lawnmower muchless ANY type of vehicle.
OK, so what you are talking about is ancient history then. At least I hope so. Got a DWI in Laredo as you were having breakfast? Now THAT is something that I've never heard of before. Guess law enforcement works a bit different there, than the departments I worked for. We acutally had to have something called evidence to make an arrest...
