Been on them for over 5 years. Willing to answer any questions on running them. Just ask.

There are 2 things you must have in the truck with you. You must have a instructional cab card for unit. And you must have an unused paper logs. 3 out of every 4 inspections I get asked for these.

That is up to your company. Some have it set the moment the wheels move. And others have it for a distance. Say 1 mile before you start. Not sure if any are still doing speed, but I had heard 10 or 12 mph.

Are you ready to sleep on shippers and receivers warehouses yards? Not yet? Why? Because shippers and receivers do not know about ELD. They do not care! All ELD Qualcomm and PeopleNet will be adjusted to 5 miles per hour DRIVE Time detection. Right now companies have 10 miles and 15 miles per hour drive time detection but till December 18, 2017. They gonna adjust it with accordance with DOT. They did not tell you yet? Why?

An ELD must automatically switch to driving mode once the commercial motor vehicle (CMV) is moving up to a set speed threshold of five miles per hour. As a result, the in-motion state must not be configured greater than five miles per hour. The vehicle will be considered stopped once its speed falls to zero miles per hour and stays at zero miles per hour for three consecutive seconds.

Will it be ok maybe during a grace period to go ahead and drive off duty around at 4mph? Like on arterials and freeways.
