Fake Smokestacks

    There are plenty of totally stupid things in trucking but I think fake smokestacks take the cake.

    The selective catalytic reducer and diesel particulate filter are on the passenger side of Kenworth trucks. There is no need for an exhaust pipe on the driver's side. The driver's side smokestack is not even connected. It's purely decorative. All it does is increase the air resistance of your tractor. The fake smokestack screams: "Look at me! I'm totally stupid! Wheee! Trucking is stupid!"

    Kenworth is the same brand that makes cab insulation an option, in case you were wondering why your company Kenworth is making you deaf.

    That the superfluous smokestack nonsense has been going on for five years makes it even more shocking.
