On the limb about to make my first trailer purchase. I want a 48'x102" flatbed spread. Combo or all aluminum. Been searching. And I have been finding a lot of older trailers for very decent prices.

With this being my first trailer purchase I am looking at this particular trailer. A 1996 Wilson for $6500. Do you all think this would be a good buy or find something newer. I already have several Avenues of work lined up for the trailer.

Retired or getting ready for a divorce....
'96 might be a little old for my own peace of mind, but it appears to be in decent shape. You're getting $3k in equipment alone if that's in good condition, and the box with hangers is another thousand.

Yeah the age has me a little weary. I'm thinking if it would/could last me at least a year or 2 make me some money so I could invest in a newer flatbed. I'm not running otr with it. Just local. She might last.

I would really check for stress cracks but it looks like it still has a little camber in it and with all that equipment seems like a pretty good deal ;but yes a little old !!

If you get 6mos out of, with all the equipment, you're already ahead compared to leasing for the same period. You'll also gain the experience of maintaining it and an idea of what you do(n't) want in the next purchase.
Since you're staying local, I'd do it. You won't be *too* far from home if something breaks.

Crawl around underneath and look for repairs, welds, fish-plate, that kind of stuff. If buying from the original owner ask them if it's been re-arched.
